Most of my book selection goes on people’s view. So when people told me about Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, I was like let me give it a try. There is no harm in reading a book when pages of the same don’t exceed 100.

The book speaks of a shepherd boy named Santiago, who is happy living a life of adventure and travel. Suddenly he dreamt of treasure near pyramid in the Egypt. Gypsies women told him that it’s your destiny. There is a treasure and it’s calling for you. So after selling all his sheep’s, Santiago head out for his destiny.
One his way, he joins the caravan who takes him to Egypt. They take rest in a small village in the desert due to war between the tribes. There he meets love of his life, desert women name Fatima. Fatima teaches Santiago to follow his heart and move towards his destiny. True love will always wait for him to return. He follows his heart and move towards the pyramid with the help of An Alchemist, who lives in the same village.
On his journey, he learns of love, courage, faith and most important hope. A saying which one should believe and which help the shepherd to reach out for his destiny is, “When you want something, the entire universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Heart will always give you the answer to all your questions, worries, and problems. Silence of the desert, blow of the wind, even small thing like insect in the desert can teach us a lot about the life.
The book speaks a lot about destiny and how one should believe in himself and his destiny to achieve the hidden treasure. The treasure is not gold or diamonds. The treasure is thing in you which makes you achieve what we are destined to achieve or what we dreamt to achieve. By sitting at one place will not give you the treasure. It’s also not achieved by reading lots of books. Treasure is cherished by those who have what it takes to be a firm believer.
Though destiny is important part of our life, we can’t just blindly follow it. Even if we follow we shouldn’t be discouraged if it’s not achieved. Everything in life happens for a reason and I completely believe that..
