Job Insecurity

I have been constantly hearing about the firing policy of most of the organisation. Many employees have been Asked To Leave (ATL) or fired by the organisation for various reasons. So many people are sitting unemployed and the number is just keeps on increasing. Also, those people who are still in the organisation, don’t have any security about their job. Any day, organisation will walk to an employee and will inform him that he is no longer required by the organisation. One day you make good money and the next day, sitting at home unemployed. There is no stability, no security, no understanding, nothing! Employee are no longer treated as an asset to the organisation. They are more of a liability which they will get rid of anytime if it exceeds the limit.

How a person can know when he his turn to get fired will come? How a person can judge the time he will spend in a particular organisation? In sales kind of profile, if you aren’t bringing sales in first 2-3 months, the chances of being fired are high. But now, the organisation is not even giving a month to an employee to give results. These firings are not just the product of result, sometime company will fire their employee for various reasons like changes by new management, or cost cutting, or worst of all, office politics. There have been cases where office politics have led to the firing of a good employee. People save their job by making some else get fired. 

The buttering and gossiping are the best tools to secure your positive in an organisation. These are not just being done by your subordinates. Even your boss doesn’t spare you. If you out-perform or go on to do the job your way, their ego and insecurities will make your life hell. The biggest problem of all bosses is their insecurities. They don’t see at the results or revenue, they look at how that person will overtake them and how they will make sure that the person is stopped. The worst politics in any office will be the one that is played by the bosses. The dedication with which an employee used to work has been made competitive and corruptible. 

The world has been competitive at each step. Whether it is your rank in school or your work in your office, you are in a constant race to be better than others. If you fail to do it, you will be next in line to an unemployment. The employee is treated as a tool which once done being useful is thrown out. 

You will think that here HR (Human Resources) will come to employees rescue then you are highly delusional. HR is suppose to be a motivator for employee and constantly provide an environment to flourish and grown. Unfortunately, you will find HR is the most unproductive and non responsive. They don’t do anything for employee, rather they never go against the top management. The best role HR does is being an informer and manipulator. Very few organisation have the right kind of HR which leads to progress and higher job satisfaction. 

All being sad, fact remains the same – world is not safe and secure. It’s time to face reality. 

To sustain yourself, work on either of two things:: 
1. Be the Top Performer or 
2. Be the Top Manipulator / Buttering 

If you are none of the above, than sorry to say but you are Fired!!!!
