Morrie is diagnosed with disease name ALS which
starts from legs and goes up, slowly decaying the body from its normal functioning.
But this is doesn’t stop Morrie from being himself. The story is about how to
fights and give himself to the disease and to the love ones. ALS doesn’t stop
him from being with his friends, students and family members. As for the Mitch,
initially he tries to avoid meeting his professor but he couldn’t get away from
the love Morrie has for him. One after the other Tuesday pass by making Mitch
realise the life he had and life he wanted. He had money but not the happiness.
He had the love ones but not the time for them. He had success but he never
enjoyed the work. The Tuesdays with Morrie made him see the real Mitch. The
Mitch who was in high school, Mitch who knew the importance of life and this
was the last assignment of Mitch and Morrie together.

It was a case where Mitch was trying to bring
smile on his professor’s face and be sympathetic about the disease but in turn
he was surprised to see that it’s not Morrie who is upset with the disease but
we who are losing the life. Morrie is embracing death and welcoming it with its
open arm. He is not afraid to cry in the morning for being trapped with the
disease but once the crying is done he never looks back at the pain. He is not
sad that he has to be dependent on other people for his own activity but he is
happy to see that so many people are there to help him in every step of the
way. Morrie even on his bad health brought good thing in people. His jolly
attitude never got affected. His sickness never overtook the emotions he had
for people. He celebrated his death ceremony before disease takes away his life
to thank everyone to be part of his life. And it never ended there, he
encourages people to see everything so positively and with such a broad smile
that death will also get afraid to come in his way.

I read this book way back, before even year
2012 started but i couldn’t write my view about it. It became difficult for me to write it. Not
because the topic was too serious but because topic was something which i experienced
live in my life, though not with professor but with a very good friend of mine.
Sometime we are so helpless that even knocking on doors seems like knocking on
empty walls. All you get is pain as no one answers the door. Our day was
Sunday. Every Sunday just being there was so important. Just showing the care
was appreciated, just being positive brought the smile on our face. Just
support was all we wanted. And in return we asked for life full of happiness
and love filled by people who are close to us.

Seeing someone die is front of you is indeed
saddest part specially when someone is very close to you. It shows us how
fragile life is. We eat, we drink, we party and we forget that in an
instant it will be gone, or in an instant we will be thrown out of it. It’s easy
to throw ball up in the air, after a certain point it will start coming down.
The speed of coming down will be double the speed of going up.

Our life is like that, at one moment we are up, on another we are down.
But that doesn’t stop us from enjoying the ride.

Live it! Feel it! Love it!
In better or worse!! Its life, its Ours!
