So called Adjustment
adjust. Adjust with the infrastructure, adjust with polluted air, adjust with
crowded cities, adjust with corrupted policies and what not. But does this mean
we adjust to each and everything? Does this mean we forget who or what we are
and just do what others what?
took birth as a girl. Since I was kid I saw girls sacrificing their career, life,
hobbies all because of others. Being the girl they were given the burden of the
family. Women’s were treated as if the whole world is not their shoulder and
they don’t have time for themselves as they were too caught with others. I
always wanted to be boy not just because they didn’t had the household responsibility
on their shoulder but for the only fact that they had freedom to do what they
wanted from their life. As I grew up I kept on wondering why such difference
is. Why boy can do what they want and girls have to seek permission? I remember
I used to fight with my parents when they didn’t allow me to do what I wanted
to do and my elder brother used to do those things.
Real realization to the word ‘Adjustment’
comes when you get married. Don’t know how it is for boys but I know girls have
to face a lot of crap. Many girls leave their job and become housewife. Biggest
example of that is a doctor leaving her clinic for a marriage. Hobbies and
interest are forgotten because girls are too busy cooking or cleaning. Friends
are replaced with family members. Big parties are replaced with family
get-together or functions. Why this adjustment? Can’t girls live their own life
the way they want? Out of 100% time, can’t they give 40% to their own
interest?
They say that you sacrifices to be happy
with family. Does happiness comes from scarifying? Letting go of few thing is
manageable but let go of everything and they still expect us to be happy. How
can I person be happy when he/she is not doing what they love or like. Compromising
on your interest doesn’t give you happiness. Compromising on your hobbies
doesn’t give you happiness. Compromising on being you doesn’t make you happy.
