Life

Welcome to the Puppet Show!

A very famous dialogue in Indian movie name ‘Anand’ goes as “Hum
sab to rangmanch ki kathputliyan hain jiski dor us upar wale ke haathon main
hai.” English translation of the dialogue is “We all are stage’s puppets whose
string is in that Man’s hands.” In the movie the actor was talking about life
and death and god is the one who has the control. But over a period of time, I realized
it is not just about life & death. We are puppets in each phase of our
life. When we were kids, our parents and teachers had the control, in college
friends and again teachers had control, in office our boss has control, after
marriage our life partner has a control and it goes on and on till God pull the
string and we are dead.
I have read so many books and quotes where people say you are
the leader or controller of your own life but how many times have we actually
controlled our life? How many times jealousy has not over taken your emotions,
how many times you have stopped crying over broken relationship, how many times
you haven’t followed your boss’s instruction, how many time you haven’t spent a
money on group parties where you didn’t want to go…. Answer is never. The precise
reason for this is that our life, however you try is always controlled by
someone or something. Our brain is either trained or implanted in such a way
that we want to be in control or lead our own life, but we fail to do that
every single time.
Some may oppose saying that it is not true I have lived the
way I wanted, just reflect back on your life and you will know the answer. I am
not saying that it will be like this forever and we will never be what we want
to be. We can be what we want, we can be what we need, we can be but it needs
courage, belief and selfishness.
Courage – It is easy to say yes but it is difficult to say no
because we don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings or we don’t want others to misjudge
you. Since we don’t have the courage, we are not confident on our actions.
Belief – Many times we don’t do what we really want to do because
we don’t believe in ourselves. We don’t believe in our talent, efficiency or
one’s self. And most of the time, we have blind belief on someone and you will
do what you don’t want to do because you believe more in them rather than you.
Selfishness – To get what you want, you need to put yourself
before others. Our religion has taught us to be a selfless human being and that’s
what we tend to be. Being selfish is not a sin, but being selfish all the time
is.
All being said, the question arises, are we happy to be
puppet or should we release ourselves? There is not a right or wrong answer for
this. It is good to be puppet and present a show which can make people smile
and it is also good to cut the strings and lead the way. In the end, it is all
about balance in life. A Chinese symbol, Yin & Yang is all about balance in
life. It says that every good has bad in it and every bad has good in it. We are
like coins, we have 2 sides. Our personality is based on in which side we are
more bent. Take a control of your life, don’t flow in emotions or blindly
believe anything else. Never rely on anyone else except yourself. Don’t cry
because it’s over, be happy that you got chance to write another chapter. Don’t
be slave of your work but be boss of your happiness. Make people smile,
distribute happiness. Take responsibility and give your best.

Be wise,
choose wise. Either its being puppet or audience, your actions will decide your
destiny. You can be puppet with a courage and belief in their power. And as for
selfishness, don’t step on others to be on top, rather step along with people
to reach the top.
